STUDENT AWARDS

If you are a student who is interested in participating in this competition you must meet several criteria:

1) Your abstract must have been accepted for presentation at the upcoming IALE meeting as either a poster or oral presentation. If you are uncertain about the status of your abstract you will probably want to monitor the official meeting web page (http://www.usiale.org ) and perhaps contact the meeting organizers. Note, as organizer of the student competition I'm not involved in determining which abstracts are accepted so I cannot answer your questions about this.

2) You must also have registered for the meeting. The details of how to register for the meeting are provided at the official meeting web page (http://www.usiale.org ).

3) As per an US-IALE executive committee decision, you must be a student member of IALE (US or otherwise) to participate. Note, the forms necessary to join US-IALE are available on the meeting web page. If you are student who is planning on attending the meeting and are not currently a member of IALE, you should submit these forms ASAP. The sooner you register the easier it will be for me to check and verify your status.

4) In order to maintain a working ratio of judges to students, we are only encouraging students to participate who are presenting finished product research. If the material you are presenting at this meeting represents work "in progress" rather than a finished product, your chances of winning are much lower and we would like to encourage you to wait to participate in this contest in future years.

5) Additionally, students are only eligible to compete in this program once during the course of their degree program so it behooves you to be tactical in determining when you will be presenting your most competitive results at a US-IALE meeting.

6) Furthermore, only students who are currently enrolled in a degree program are eligible to compete. This rule helps ensure a more level playing field between all competitors.

7) Finally, no one will be considered for participation in the competition until they go to the student competition web page (http://www.ncrs.fs.fed.us/4153/iale/main.html) and submit their information. The database developed from these submissions is what I will use to assign judges, etc. So just because you indicated that you were interested in the competition when you submitted your abstract or when you registered for the meeting you are not signed up for the competition until you visit the competition web page (http://www.ncrs.fs.fed.us/4153/iale/main.html) and submit a form. If you have any problems with this web page or with doing this, please email me and I will help you get them straightened out. Note, please fill out this information completely and accurately. Last year communication problems were caused when students entered their email addresses in this form incorrectly.
