Call For Applications

The NASA-MSU Professional Enhancement Awards will be
available for the 10th consecutive year to students
who are going to give oral or poster presentations
at the 2007
Annual Conference of the
U.S. Regional Association of the International Association
for Landscape Ecology (US-IALE2007), held in Tucson,
Arizona from April 9 through April 13, 2007.
These special awards are made
possible by the support from the National Aeronautics
and Space Administration (NASA) and Michigan State
University (MSU). The selected students will have opportunities
to meet with some leading landscape ecologists at a
special dinner gathering, to learn the latest developments
in landscape ecology at the conference, and to build
professional networks with other conference attendees.
At the 2007 conference, the NASA-MSU Program will celebrate
its 10th anniversary, which will include special workshops
on professional development and symposia organized
and presented by some former NASA-MSU awardees and
mentors.
Approximately 20 awards (up to $700 each) will
be given for the selected students to cover expenses
associated
with attending the conference. Applications will be
judged based on the merits of the applicants' abstracts,
financial needs, and professional backgrounds and goals.
While former award recipients are not eligible to apply,
minority students are especially encouraged to apply.
All applications must be RECEIVED by January 15, 2007
(but the conference abstract is Due November 15, 2006).
The selection will be made by mid-February, 2007.
Interested
students should submit FOUR hardcopies (including one
original) of:
- cover letter (interest in the award and statement of professional goals)
- completed application form (the form is available at http://www.csis.msu.edu/NASA-MSU.htm).
- resume or CV,
- abstract for IALE2007 (due November 15, 2006)
